Sri Lanka falls to 146 out of 180 countries in the media freedom rankings !



The latest ranking of international media freedom for 2022 has been released.

According to the report, Sri Lanka is down 29 places compared to last year.

Sri Lanka is ranked 146th in the 2022 International Press Freedom Rankings.

In that index, Sri Lanka was ranked 127th in 2020 and 2021.

Sri Lanka was also ranked 126th in 2019 and 131st in 2018.

May 3 has been declared International Press Freedom Day, and the annual report was released on Tuesday.

According to the report, Norway tops the 2022 International Press Freedom Index with 92.65 points, followed by Denmark and Sweden at 90.27 and 88.84, respectively.

India is ranked 150th in the international media rankings this year, followed by Bhutan, a neighbor of India, at 33rd.

The rankings are based on 180 countries in the world, with North Korea ranking 180th with 13.92 points.

It also named Myanmar, Turkmenistan, Iran and Eritrea as the lowest-ranking countries in the world.

Meanwhile, this year's International Press Freedom Day UNESCO called korma "Journalism under Digital Surveillance".

It focuses on the various barriers and attacks on the media in cyberspace in ensuring fundamental rights and media freedom.
