Civil Aviation Authority issues warning to Sri Lankan airlines !

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has advised airlines to bring in enough fuel for flights arriving in Sri Lanka until their final flight or to refuel at another airport.

This was stated by the Director of the Civil Aviation Authority Rehan Wanniyappa in a telephone interview with Bloomberg.

He has stated that there is a shortage of aviation fuel in Sri Lanka and that the situation will have to be managed.

According to Bloomberg, other airlines flying to Sri Lanka, including Emirates, are carrying more fuel than they need.

Bloomberg reports that Sri Lankan Airlines planes are also flying to Chennai and Dubai in southern India to refuel their long-haul flights.

A spokesman for Indian Oil said there had been an increase in refueling of international flights arriving and departing from Colombo at South Indian airports.

This is just a precautionary measure and will not disrupt the operations of the airport and the airline. Chandrasiri told Bloomberg.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority has taken steps to change the recruitment of staff for the duties until further notice.

Accordingly, with effect from yesterday (May 30), the staff will be required to report for duty only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

On those days from 08.30 am to 04.15 pm the employees have to perform their duties from the office.

Also, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 08.30 am to 04.15 pm the staff is required to work from home and the public is requested not to visit the Civil Aviation Authority offices on those days.
