"Immediate action should be taken to protect banks and businesses" - Ranil Wickramasinghe !

UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has called for immediate action to prevent the collapse of the banking system and businesses.

He told parliament today that he had promised to set up a fund with the money when oil prices fell, and that officials should be punished if they did not have the money.

"It was said then that a separate fund would be set up as soon as the price of paddy falls in 2020-2021. Is there money in that fund or should we punish those officials? That is why I am asking you what steps we should take. I think you said take more steps than steps." If we seek assistance from foreign countries, we need to resolve the issues with those countries.

How do we run our business now? Our businesses are collapsing. Losing money. How many will lose their jobs? Will hundreds of thousands of businesses collapse just to save the banks? How do we get there? If the budget gives relief, cut all unnecessary expenses. Leave this change to the Public Finance Commission. Let's remove everything that can be removed and give it to the people. The relief should be taken forward. How do we get the next loan and pay it off in 10 years?

This economic structure needs to be changed. We have to go for a competitive economy and we have to go for exports. The private sector was angry with me for saying that. We have to get there. We can find a number of new ways. I was opposed to everything I did. It was not Gota but me who finally went home. Somehow I've come back. A political solution is needed to solve this problem. But there are a number of issues with political solutions. "
