Lack of food affects children badly! 11 out of 53 children admitted to children's hospital are malnourished!

Pediatrician Dr. Deepal Perera says that child malnutrition is increasing rapidly due to the food shortage that is arising with the current economic crisis.

He stated that 11 out of 53 children admitted to the Lady Ridgeway Children's Hospital in Colombo in the last few days are suffering from malnutrition.

The specialist said that about 20% of the children admitted to the ward showed signs of malnutrition and that parents should pay more attention to home gardening to prevent this situation and to pay special attention to crops such as manioc which yield in the short term.
