Malwatta Chief Prelate bans politicians !

Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera, the Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter has decided not to allow any politician to visit him.

The Trincomalee Mahanayake Theras recently submitted a letter to the President, the Prime Minister and the party leaders including six proposals including the formation of a temporary interim government to save the country from the crisis with the full consent of the monks.

It was stated that the decision was taken due to the fact that no one has responded positively to the document so far.

When the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa arrived in Kandy recently to present the document containing the proposals submitted by the Samagi Jana Balawega for the 21st Amendment to the Constitution to the Chief Prelates, he was not allowed to visit the Chief Prelate of Malwatta.

Due to that he had to visit only the Chief Prelate of Asgiriya and present the relevant document.

A group of backbenchers of the Sri Lanka People's Front (SLPP) also visited the Chief Prelate of Malwatta on the 29th and requested permission to present a document containing their proposals regarding the crisis.

It was reported that the Trincomalee Mahanayake Theras have decided to convene all party leaders in Parliament to discuss the current situation.
