News first Journalist Vindana Prasad Karunaratne has been assaulted by a group at the Galle Face protest ground.
The attack took place this morning (May 4).
When contacted by News First, a senior official said that the attack was not carried out by a group of protesters.
He said that the attack was carried out by a group not involved in the struggle and that the agency was investigating.
Vindana Prasad Karunaratne was a journalist who actively participated in covering the people's struggle against the government.
He also spoke out against police blocking journalists from covering the Mirihane protest.
