His younger brother Sanjeewa Ranatunga has revealed that Minister of Housing Prarasanna Ranatunga is preparing to rebuild the houses of politicians who were damaged in the riots that followed the inhumane attacks on a of thugs by the Sri Lanka People's Front in Mainagogama and Gotagogama.
Sanjeewa Ranatunga has posted a note on his Facebook account pointing out that the riot was instigated by his brother Prasanna Ranatunga and others.
Therefore, he has appealed to all not to allow even one cent of public money to be used to rebuild the houses of the politicians concerned.
He pointed out that they had to make sure to insure their homes.
When we inquired about this, the Minister of Housing, Prasanna Ranatunga stated that compensation has been paid during previous riots as well.
He said that after providing legal assistance regarding the demolition of the houses, it will be considered whether compensation will be paid for it.
