The Ceylon Private Bus Owners' Association says that despite the end of the hartal, bus services have been restricted.
Its chairman Gemunu Wijeratne said that this was due to the lack of fuel for buses.
He said the situation could continue for another four days.
The chairman pointed out that there was a risk that the bus service would come to a complete standstill thereafter.
"Bus Running is very limited today. No oil. There is nothing else to do."
He added that this situation will have a severe impact on the operation of long distance buses as compared to short distance buses.
