Today (15) is the full moon day of Vesak, which commemorates the great triumph of Siddhartha, his enlightenment and attaining Pirinivan.
The Poya will be received today (15) at 12.46 pm and the Poya will be paid tomorrow (16) at 9.43 am.
Despite the economic crisis in the country, the Buddhist people are preparing to celebrate the Sambuddha Tribute as best they can.
Due to the corona epidemic in the last two years, Buddhists who had been engaged in religious activities on Vesak day from their homes have been given the opportunity to go to temples and engage in religious observances this year.
Due to the terrorist attack on Dapasku Sunday in 2019, Buddhists have had to celebrate Vesak from home.
Accordingly, the people will have the opportunity to freely engage in religious observances on Vesak day after three years. After three years, several pandals are being erected at various places throughout the country, including the ones erected near the Bo tree in Pettah and at Thotalaga this year.
Spectacular lanterns and Vesak zones are also being constructed at various places throughout the country this year.
Due to the economic problems of the people, it seems that very few dansals have been organized this year as compared to previous years.
