1.7 million coconuts of the Livestock Board have been plant in storage

Prof. Manjula Magamage, Chairman of the Livestock Development Board says that over one million coconuts for sale owned by the National Livestock Development Board have sprouted up in warehouses.

This situation has arisen due to the inability to sell stocks of coconuts in the warehouses in Horakele, Maranawila and the Coconut Triangle for more than a month.

He said that due to the fuel crisis in the country, traders did not come to the warehouses to buy coconuts.

He also said that the accumulation of such products in their warehouses is a fatal blow to the revenue of the National Livestock Development Board.

He further requested the Minister in charge of the subject to provide some quantity of diesel to the traders who come to buy coconuts to resolve this crisis expeditiously.
