Bus fares are also on the rise

The All Ceylon Private Bus Owners' Association says that a revision of bus fares is necessary due to the increase in fuel prices.

Its General Secretary Anjana Priyanjith said that the annual revision of bus fares should be done by June 30 and that a 35% revision of bus fares was required due to the increase in fuel prices.

“The bus fare increase, which is revised only once a year, is due on June 30. We propose to the government that the annual bus fare revision should be 20%. With the revision of diesel prices, bus fares should be increased by 15%. Together we propose a 35% to 40% increase in bus fares. ”

He also stated that the relevant bus fare revision should be made tomorrow.

He further stated that if not, the buses will be taken out of service.
