A Los Angeles court has sentenced Nasson Joaquin Garcia, the US leader of the Christian church La Luz del Mundo, to 16 years and eight months in prison.
He was convicted of sexually abusing three girls in his church.
The sentence was handed down after 53-year-old Nason Jokin Garcia pleaded guilty.
If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
La Luz del Mundo is said to be a fundamentalist Christian organization founded in 1926 in Mexico.
