A person has been shot dead in the Panadura area today (June 3).
Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa stated that two persons who had arrived on a motorbike had shot at another motorcyclist.
He said the man who was shot died on the spot.
He has been identified as a 31 year old resident of Pinwatta, Panadura.
A police spokesman said the identity of the shooters had not yet been determined.
He further stated that it is suspected that the murder was due to a drug dispute.
Aluthgama murder :
Meanwhile, a man was shot dead in the Maradana Road area in Moragalla in the Aluthgama Police Division this morning (June 3).
Police stated that the victim succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the Beruwala Hospital.
He said the deceased was a person who used to go home in a lorry and collect oranges and sell them. He had been shot while traveling in the lorry.
A police spokesman said the motive for the shooting had not yet been determined.
