Turkey has decided to change the name of its country.
Accordingly, Turkey, which was called 'Turki' in English, will henceforth be known as 'Türkiye' in English.
According to foreign media reports, the government has informed the United Nations in a formal letter that it has changed its name and it has received the approval of the United Nations.
The president says the name 'Türkiye' represents the culture, civilization and values of his country's people.
