Polpithigama, Tholambuela area of ​​a woman has been killed by cutting her throat with a sharp weapon.

The women was a 35-year-old resident of Tholambuela area.

The police stated that the murder took place near the water tank on Tholambuela, Igurudeniya road while the deceased was on her way home after going to Polpithigama Hospital with her little child to get medicine.

Investigations revealed that she was holding the child at that time and the police said that the child was not injured.

The body is lying in the mortuary of Polpithigama Hospital.

The police said that the reason for the murder has not yet been revealed.

The suspect who committed the murder has been identified and the Polpithigama police are conducting further investigations to arrest him.
