The president of the All Ceylon Bakery Owners' Association NK said that the bakery industry will collapse completely in two or three days. Says Jayawardene.

At a press conference held today (July 7), he mentioned that 50% of the bakeries have now been completely closed.

He mentioned that it is not possible to get anything required for bakery production.

"The prime minister, the power minister, the trade minister and everyone else have been informed about this fuel issue for about a month. But there is no result till today. I think the bakery industry is an essential service. As of today, no one has prepared any program to provide fuel to the bakeries. The bakery owner is completely helpless and orphaned."

Mr. Jayawardena requested that the government and relevant ministers take immediate action in this regard.
