40 million gold seized from Thalaimannar !


Three suspects were arrested in the Talaimannar area by the Kankesanthurai Sub Prevention Office in the Talaimannar area with nearly 2 kilos of gold worth over Rupees. 40 million, said Customs Spokesman, Deputy Director Sudaththa Silva.

According to information received by the Sri Lanka Navy from the North Central Naval Headquarters from a group of sailors attached to the Thalaimannar Thammenna Base, the consignment of gold was seized off the coast of Talaimannar along with three suspects with an estimated value of Rupees.

The Customs spokesman said that the suspects were residents of Puthukudiyiruppu and Pesalai areas.

The suspects were fined Rupees. 750,000 and the gold was confiscated, Customs spokesman Sudaththa Silva said.
