Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in the Kelani, Gin and Nilwala rivers !



The Irrigation Department stated that the water levels in the Kelani, Gin and Nilwala rivers and the Attanagallu Oya are high due to heavy rains.

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology said that due to this a flood situation is likely in the low lying areas along the river in the next 48 hours.

In addition, the people in the low lying areas around Deduru Oya, Maha Oya, Benthara Ganga and Kirama Oya should be aware of the rising water levels in those rivers, the Irrigation Department said.

The southwest monsoon has brought heavy rains to many parts of the country, affecting people's lives.

Meanwhile, the National Building Research Organization has issued a yellow alert for landslides.

The epicenter was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor, however; no tsunami alert was issued.
