A 90-minute flight from New York to London is under development. It takes about three hours for a Concorde to fly this distance, and between six and seven hours for a typical passenger plane.
The speed of this new aircraft is iv times the speed of sound. The aircraft was designed by Herms, a company that aims to develop ultrasonic aircraft in Atlanta.
The company is already testing a new model of engine that will eventually reach Mach 5 (more than 3,000 miles per hour). The engine was designed by Herms for a small, unmanned hypersonic aircraft currently being developed for the U.S. Air Force, and they are also being redesigned to fit passenger aircraft. But for a start, it will be much smaller than the existing aircraft and will be a single-passenger aircraft with 20 passengers.
