Co-Cabinet Spokesman Kanchana Wijesekera says that proposals have been made to consolidate power transmission between India and Sri Lanka.
He said the proposals were still under discussion.
“Connecting an undersea cable system was a costly problem. Now there is a proposal for an overhead cable and to reduce the distance and provide such a connection. It is only a matter of discussion. ”
Meanwhile, the Minister stated that the privatization of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the Ceylon Electricity Board have not been discussed so far.
"We strive to make the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the Ceylon Electricity Board the most efficient institutions that provide maximum service to the people while minimizing costs."
