Army Commander General Shavendra Silva will assume duties as the new Chief of Defense Staff, the Sri Lanka Army said.

 

Accordingly, the Acting Chief of Defense Staff and Commander General Shavendra Silva will assume duties as the new Chief of Defense Staff with effect from his resignation on 31st May with effect from 1st June.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Vikum Liyanage, the current Chief of Staff of the Army, will assume duties as the new Commander of the Army with effect from June 1, the Sri Lanka Army said
