Decision taken by the party leaders regarding the 21st amendment !

The party leaders agreed to re-enforce the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in the form of the 21st Amendment as the first step and the abolition of the executive presidency as the second step. Party leaders are set to discuss whether the president can retain the post of defense minister.

The meeting of the party leaders to discuss the 21st Amendment to the Constitution was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Prime Minister's Office on the 27th afternoon.

The purpose of this meeting was to allow the party leaders to make their observations and proposals regarding the draft amendment.

It has been agreed that the 21st Amendment to the Constitution should be passed as soon as possible. Due to the inability of the TNA to attend the meeting, it was decided to hold a final meeting next Friday (June 3) and finalize the draft.

The Prime Minister has said that if any party wants further clarifications this week, it can inquire from the Minister of Justice.
