Depression in the Bay of Bengal to be a hurricane: Red weather forecast !


 

The Meteorological Department says that the depression in the Bay of Bengal has turned into a deep depression.

The department said in a statement that it could move northwest and develop into a hurricane in the southeastern Bay of Bengal in the next few hours.

It is also expected to develop into a hurricane across the East-Central Bay of Bengal by tonight.

The Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has warned fishermen and sailors not to sail in the seas and equator bordering between latitudes 7 - 16 and longitudes 85-95 and between latitudes 4 and north latitudes 80-95.

The Meteorological Department requests those who are currently fishing in those areas to return to land or to a safe place immediately.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts during the night today (May 8), the Met Department said. Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Eastern and Southern coastal areas during the morning too. Km The department added that it could increase to 40.
