An incident of hijacking the mobile phones of two journalists was brought to the notice of Parliament today (May 17).
Commenting on this, the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa stated that the two journalists were reporting on their mobile phones when the members of the ruling party came out of the group meeting.
He said that the mobile phones of the two journalists had been stolen at that time.
However, he said he could not say who had stolen the mobile phones as he had not witnessed the incident and asked the Speaker to bring the matter to his attention.
The Leader of the Opposition said that journalists have been given the freedom to cover Parliament through mobile phones.
As a result, he requested the Speaker to return the mobile phones.
