Kottul maker arrested for allegedly murdering 9-year-old Fatima Ayesha in Atulugama, Bandaragama




The main suspect in the murder of nine-year-old Fatima Ayesha in Atulugama, Bandaragama has been arrested, according to the Panadura Divisional Crime Investigation Unit.

A 28 year old resident of the Atulugama Muslim Colony in Bandaragama has been arrested.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect had been drinking ice when the girl had gone to the chicken shop and that the suspect had left the shop before the girl and was hiding near a bush.

According to the police, the girl had dragged her to a nearby forest on her way home with her chicken and had touched her body, where she had tried to escape from the suspect's clutches.

A senior police officer said that a piece of cloth was inserted into the girl's mouth and he was dragged a few meters further and pushed into a nearby swamp, where he was immersed in it and kept his knees on the girl's back until he died
