A senior official of the company stated that a ship carrying 3,500 metric tons of gas is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka today (May 30) at 1.00 pm.
He said that if the weather was favorable, the ship would be able to reach the Litro Company's buoy in Kerawalapitiya on the same day and it would take another 10 hours for further investigations.
He added that "if all goes well, Litro will be able to begin distribution on Wednesday morning."
The other ship, carrying 3,500 metric tons of gas, is expected to arrive by the middle of next week, Litro said earlier.
On May 23, Litro Gas paid $ 6.5 million for two ships carrying 3,500 metric tons of gas, which was due to arrive in Sri Lanka on May 26.
Litro suspended distribution of domestic gas cylinders on May 24 due to gas shortages.
