The postmortem examination of Fatima Aisha Akram, who died in the Atalugama area in Bandaragama, was held on May 29, police said.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa stated that the postmortem examination was conducted at the Panadura Base Hospital yesterday morning.
Four police teams have been deployed to investigate the death of the girl and so far the police have taken steps to record a number of statements from various people in the area.
The body of 9-year-old Fatima Aisha Akram, who went missing in Atalugama, Bandaragama, was found on May 28 in a swamp near the Atalugama Mahapalliya.
Police said they suspect the girl was killed and her body brought to the scene.
Accordingly, the police spokesman further stated that the death of the girl is suspected to be a murder and further investigations are being carried out.
