Former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and several former ministers of the Sri Lanka People's Front have been summoned to the Human Rights Commission, sources said.
It is reported that statements will be obtained from the former ministers including the Prime Minister next Wednesday.
IGP C.D. Mr. Wickramaratne has also been summoned to the Human Rights Commission and the Commission is scheduled to take a statement from him next Thursday, the sources said.
The group has been summoned to the Human Rights Commission for questioning on the attack on peaceful protesters in Minagogama and Galle Face Gotagogama on the 9th in front of Temple Trees and the ensuing violence.
It is reported that such statements are being obtained from a group including Namal Rajapaksa, Rohitha Abeygunawardena and Johnston Fernando.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Avant Garde Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathi was also summoned to the Human Rights Commission last (May 29).
Earlier, the Commissioner General of Prisons had been summoned to the Human Rights Commission for this purpose.
This is according to a complaint received by the Commission that a group of inmates of the Watareka Prison had participated in a political meeting held at Temple Trees on the 9th.
Meanwhile, the CID had earlier obtained statements from the former Prime Minister and former ministers.
