Calling applications for OIC positions !


The IGP has taken steps to call for applications for officers who wish to be appointed as OICs and the relevant order has already been sent to all police stations in the island.


Accordingly, the IGP has instructed to send applications to the Chief Inspectors and Inspectors of Police who wish to apply for the posts.


Meanwhile, the IGP has further stated in this regard:


Officers who have previously appeared for the interview and have not yet held the post of HQI (HQI) or OIC (O.I.C.) can also apply for the post of HQI and OIC.


Similarly, officers who are currently holding the post of HQI or OIC without appearing for an interview should also submit applications for this purpose, IGP CD said. Mr. Wickramaratne has informed all OICs in the island.


Meanwhile, the IGP has directed the senior officers in charge of the divisions to immediately inform the officers who are currently on leave abroad or on other duties including those on UN peacekeeping duties.


The application form for the post of OIC has already been sent to all Police Stations island wide by Police Email (VPN).


The IGP has also stated that the Ministry of Public Security has given approval to conduct interviews to select officers for the vacant posts of Headquarters Inspector of Police and OIC.


The Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles has recently requested the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to appoint new OICs. Mr. Wickramaratne had been instructed.


The Minister further instructed the IGP to call for new applications for each police station and to appoint more suitable officers for the post of OIC.


It has been decided to appoint new OICs in a transparent manner under a specific procedure and it is reported that the Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles will take steps to completely reorganize the Police Department on the instructions of the President.
