Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa says that politicians cannot make decisions regarding the economy.
He made this statement to the BBC. Joining an interview with News.
He also said that the decision taken by the government to provide tax relief without adequate income was not correct.
He said the decision was taken by the President in the belief that local businesses would reinvest the money in the economy.
However, he said it did not happen as the president believed.
The journalist who conducted the interview questioned MP Namal Rajapaksa as to why the government did not follow the advice given by economic experts to go to the International Monetary Fund and float the rupee.
Responding to this, he said that decision makers are also responsible for that.
He said that this was due to the inability of politicians to make decisions related to the economy.
He further stated that the present Minister of Finance, Mr. Ali, has also admitted that the officials had given wrong instructions.
