The issuance of passports under the one day and normal service of the Department of Immigration and Emigration will commence as usual from today (17).
The Department of Immigration and Emigration says that it is mandatory to make an appointment with an advance date and time for those services.
It is advised to use the website WWW.immigration.gov.lk or 0707 101 060.
If telephone numbers are used, facilities will be provided on government working days from 8.30 am to 3.00 pm.
As the daily passport issuance capacity of the department is around 2,000 passports, it is requested to avoid the inconvenience of not arriving at an earlier date and time.
The Department of Immigration and Emigration also emphasizes that the propaganda that there will be an increase in passport fees or that stocks of passports will expire is untrue.
