People living on both sides of the road were waiting with brooms this afternoon to "attack the parliamentarians".

 

Serjeant-at-Arms Narendra Fernando said that after the end of the Parliament, all the members present were able to leave safely.

He said the MPs were sent through additional entrances other than the main road in Parliament.
