Southwest monsoon sets in: Rains island wide !

The Meteorological Department says that the southwest monsoon has set over the island.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North Western and Southern provinces today (May 19), the Department said.

In the Sabaragamuwa Province and in some places in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Heavy showers over 50.

Showers or thundershowers at times in the Northern Province and in the Anuradhapura District.

Showers or thundershowers at times in the western slopes of the central hills, in the northern, north-central and north-western provinces and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts. The Meteorological Department said that strong winds of 40-50 kph are expected.
