A husband has stabbed his wife to death with a stick and stabbed her in the neck with a glass bottle in the early hours of yesterday (May 21) in the Wadichale shoe bridge area in Polonnaruwa.

Police said that the murder had taken place due to a family dispute between the suspect and the victim.

The deceased was identified as Wadiwela, 31, a resident of Polonnaruwa.

The suspect is also receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Polonnaruwa General Hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Polonnaruwa Police are conducting investigations.
