The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) has launched an investigation into a video released on social media by an O / L student claiming that the principal had not allowed him to attend school for a year !


Weeraketiya D.A. The Chairman of the National Child Protection Authority, Dr. Udaya Amarasinghe told  that child protection officers had taken statements from the student, a student of Rajapaksa Vidyalaya, and that the police were taking steps to record statements from the principal.

He said his statement stated that the student had not been allowed to attend school for a year and had been subjected to various forms of physical abuse, and that he had instructed the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) to investigate whether his fundamental rights had been violated and to take appropriate legal action if such an incident had taken place.

He also said that the Ministry of Education had been instructed to investigate the allegation that he had not been allowed to visit the school for a year.

When the student, who is sitting for the GCE Ordinary Level examination this time, went to the school on the 19th to obtain his examination pass, a live video was released on social media networks in the principal's room.

 Dr. Udaya Amarasinghe stated that the video was obtained by the National Child Protection Authority and that investigations are underway and preliminary investigations are currently underway.
