The Archbishop of Colombo Malcolm Ranjith said at the Katunayake Airport yesterday (May 4) morning that it is unfortunate that the law of our country is designed to be manipulated by the President and the Prime Minister and that it should be above them.
He was speaking to reporters at the arrival terminal at the Katunayake Airport on his way back to the Vatican at the special invitation of His Holiness Pope Francis.
Speaking further, the Archbishop said:
"Our condolences were extended to His Holiness Pope Francis, who was joined by a large number of Sri Lankans who benefit from Italy.
Responsible leaders of the country should learn to think and work for the country. Instead, there is no point in acting in plays. That responsibility must be properly fulfilled.
At the same time, there must be an environment in which we can live as one nation, regardless of racial or religious differences. "
