Former Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has accused the current government of printing Rupees. 300,000 million recently.
He was speaking in Parliament on May 4.
He pointed out that as a result, Sri Lanka has now become a country with high inflation.
He alleged that although there were devices to control such a large amount of money, the present government used those tools to speed up the circulation of money.
"Today in our country there is no ordinary inflation, hyperinflation, Mr. Chairman. The first mistake is not history, we have recently printed Rupees. 3 trillion, how many trillions? We have printed Rupees. Even an ordinary student of science knows what would happen if such a huge amount of money were released into an economy without the production of goods and services.
