A circular will be issued on to grant leave to public servants for home gardening

A circular has been issued to declare Friday as a public holiday.

The circular states that government offices will not be open on Fridays of the week subject to provisions to allow government officials to grow food crops in their backyards for three months.

It said the circulars would not apply to warehouses providing essential services such as water, electricity, healthcare, education, transport, ports and airports, as well as to institutions determined by a Secretary to the Ministry to be open on Fridays.

Accordingly, the Public Administration Circular (10/2022) dated 25.05.2022 issued under the heading Restriction on Calling to Staff of Public Institutions has been canceled with immediate effect.
