A quota system for releasing fuel

Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera has said that consumers have no choice but to register at petrol stations and activate a weekly quota to issue fuel.

The Minister made this remark on his Twitter account.

Accordingly, the Twitter post states that it expects the quota system to be implemented from the first week of July.

It further states that customers will register at the filling station and be given a weekly quota until they are able to strengthen the country's financial position and provide 24 hours power supply and uninterrupted fuel to the customer.

Meanwhile, the Minister has pointed out that the monthly fuel expenditure which was US $ 200 million four months ago has now increased to US $ 550 million.
