The COPE today (June 21) decided to take an oath at the commencement of the statements made by the officers summoned to the COPE Committee at a special meeting of the COPE Committee.
Accordingly, officials who come to the COPE Committee in the future will have to take an oath that their statements are correct at the very beginning of the COPE Committee.
This special meeting of the Committee on Public Enterprises was chaired by its Chairperson Prof. Charitha Herath and several special decisions were taken.
who was the Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board, on the withdrawal of a statement made to the COPE Committee on June 10. The letter dated 11.06.2022 sent by Mr. Ferdinando was tabled today by the Chairman of COPE.
COPE Chairman Prof. Charitha Herath has stated,
Today we considered the letter sent to the COPE Committee by the Chairman of the Electricity Board on 11.06.2022. An important discussion took place in accordance with that article. Some of the points taken today in this article and the letter that has been submitted as an appendix to it came to the fore today. Accordingly, the decision of the COPE Committee will be taken by the former Chairman MMC. We (the COPE) have decided to call Mr. Ferdinando back to the committee to discuss with him and thereby re-examine the contents of this letter and then decide on the removal of part of his testimony which he has requested. ”
Accordingly, the M.M.C. It has been decided to summon Mr. Ferdinando before the COPE Committee on June 23 at 11.00 am.
It has also been decided to hold a special meeting on July 25 based on the expert reports on the progress of SriLankan Airlines.
