Former Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa has said that he does not accept the allegation that foreign reserves went down during his tenure as Finance Minister.

He made the remarks at a special press conference on June 9.


He stated that even when he took over the ministry post, there were no foreign reserves in the country.


"I do not accept that the  has dropped to zero. Who said you don't know? Where is That is wrong. Complete misinformation. There was no such thing as a  when I came. If I had such reserves I would have done the same. ”


"People allege that Rajapaksa rule ended because of Basil Rajapaksa," a journalist questioned him.


Responding to this, the former Minister said,


"Yeah, it's over."


Meanwhile, he stated that fuel flour and fertilizer are being supplied to the country through loans obtained during his tenure as a Minister.
