“My expectations were met. People's expectations could not be fulfilled ”- Basil

Former Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa says that everything the people expected could not be achieved.

Mr. Basil Rajapaksa made this statement at a media briefing held on June 9.

"I think I will do what I have to do to the best of my ability but I have not been able to do all the things people expected me to do. But that was not what I expected when I came to Sri Lanka. I wanted to have two big charges at the time. When the government of good governance was elected. One allegation in 2015 was that I wanted to be prosecuted for various corruptions and frauds. The case was filed. He was remanded for months. Last week I was acquitted of the last case. Facing those cases is my first and second. I want to be responsible for the defeat of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Both of those tasks were accomplished. Both of my hopes have been fulfilled. Other than that I never had any hope of getting a finance ministry, coming to parliament. When it comes. ”

He, meanwhile, said he hopes to see a system change in the future.
