IMF delegation to hold talks with PM

The 10 member delegation of the International Monetary Fund who arrived in Sri Lanka recently commenced a discussion with the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The delegation arrived in the country today (June 20).

The group is scheduled to stay in the country for a week.

What is the 17th program to save Sri Lanka from the economic crisis during that period? The IMF said yesterday (June 19) that recent talks on the issue would continue.

"We reaffirm our commitment to assist Sri Lanka at this critical juncture in line with International Monetary Fund policies," they said.

Commenting on this, Patrick Karan, Senior Economist at Telimar, a U.S. investment research firm, said that even if a staff level agreement was reached, final program approval would be uncertain on the assurance that official creditors, including China, would be willing to provide adequate credit relief. Is.

The government had earlier stated that Sri Lanka expects to receive about US $ 3 billion from the International Monetary Fund.
