MP Johnston Fernando has filed a writ petition in the Court of Appeal seeking an injunction restraining his arrest.
He has stated in the relevant petition that he has been named by the CID on the instructions of the Attorney General as a suspect in the attack on the Kolonupitiya Mainagogama and Galle Face Gotagogama clashes on May 9.
He has also stated that he had reported the matter to the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court.
He further stated that the CID was preparing to arrest him as a suspect on the advice of the Attorney General and that it was against the law.
As a result, the MP has asked the court to issue a restraining order against his arrest.
