Murder in Akuressa: Main suspect arrested


The main suspect in the beheading of a cotton grower in the Thibbatuwa area in Akuressa has been arrested.


The suspect is a 24 year old resident of Thibbatuwa, Akuressa.


The suspect is to be produced before the Matara Magistrate's Court today (June 29).


The suspect's mother and father had been arrested earlier in connection with the incident.


Police suspect the killing may have been over a personal dispute.


The victim had been working as a cotton weaver at the Godapitiya temple until recently and had recently passed away from his house due to amputation of one of his legs.
