"People in queues have no voting mentality"

"People are in a state of emotional turmoil in the gas and oil queues. Punchihewa said.


The Chairman pointed out that a conducive environment should be created for free and fair elections.


Mr. Punchihewa said there was a possibility of security issues at the polling stations and that the situation should be taken care of.


Speaking at a media briefing held at the Elections Secretariat yesterday (June 9), the Chairman of the Election Commission Nimal G. This was stated by Mr. Punchihewa.


Expressing the need to ease the current situation, the Chairman said that a conducive environment should be created for holding elections.


He said that the Elections Commission had submitted 24 proposals to the Select Committee appointed to amend the election laws and requested that five essential amendments be implemented during the interim period.


Nimal G is expected to certify the Electoral Roll for the year 2022 by October 31 after the revision of the Electoral Roll Amendment. Mr. Punchihewa said.
