Request made to the President, Sarath Fonseka before giving the PM post to Ranil

Samagi Jana Balawege MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka revealed in Parliament that he had been invited by the President to accept the post of Prime Minister before Ranil Wickremesinghe was appointed Prime Minister.

He stated that he had submitted several conditions to the President to accept the post.

He said that within hours of presenting those conditions, President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa summoned Ranil Wickremesinghe and handed over the post of Prime Minister.

Mr. Fonseka said that he was the one who paved the way for Ranil Wickremesinghe to become the Prime Minister and that he should not forget to thank him while he was the Prime Minister.
