Russian government opposes Sri Lankan ambassador to Aeroflot plane crash !


Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Russia Janitha Abeywickrema Liyanage has been summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry by Sri Lankan authorities to protest against the detention of the Aeroflot aircraft.


The Russian Foreign Ministry has stated this, according to foreign media reports.


On June 3, the Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation J.A. Liyanage was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, ”the ministry said.


Foreign media reported that they had stated that they were protesting against Janitha Abeywickrema Liyanage against the unfounded decision of the Sri Lankan judiciary to seize an Aeroflot flight bound for Moscow on June 2 at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.


"We urge the Sri Lankan side to resolve this issue within a short period of time to avoid the detrimental effects of traditionally friendly bilateral relations," the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
