SLTB employees withdraw from bus services

Employees of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) in many parts of the country have withdrawn from all services provided by SLTB depots, including bus services.

Sepala Liyanage, President of the All Ceylon Transport Workers' Union stated that the employees of 107 SLTB depots island wide have taken this action.

The employees of the SLTB have withdrawn from providing such services due to non-revision of their salaries from 2018.

However, after informing the ministry that a solution would be found, a number of employees of the depot have returned to work and the employees of 18 depots are still engaged in trade union action, he added.
