The Electricity Act was passed by a majority vote without amendments

The Electricity Amendment Bill was passed by a majority in Parliament today (June 9) without any amendments.

After the third reading in the Committee Stage it received 116 votes in favor and 46 votes against.

Accordingly, the Bill was passed by a majority of 70 votes.

Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera introduced the Bill in Parliament today (June 9).
